A TEENAGE boy admitted raping his little sister after watching porn on his Xbox and wanting to "try out" what he saw.
The schoolboy, 13, told Lancashire police he had been watching X-rated material on the games console and chose his sister because "she was small and wouldn't remember stuff".
The boy, who appeared before Blackburn Magistrates Court yesterday, pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting his eight-year-old sister and inciting her to perform a sexual act on him.
He has been bailed to live with other relatives while his sister is being supported by specialist officers, The Lancashire Telegraph reported.
A pre-sentence report is being prepared by the youth offending team.
Jon Brown from British children's protection charity NSPCC told the paper it was clear that pornography could warp childrens' perception of normal sexual behaviour.
"This is a horrific and tragic case which must have caused tremendous heartache for the family," he said.
"We know that the vast amount of inappropriate, unrealistic and sometimes downright harmful pornography some children are exposed to through the internet can be extremely damaging to young minds."
It comes as a government committee is set to discuss a new online safety bill which proposes that internet users must opt in and prove they are over 18 to view adult content.
Xbox users can currently customise their access to various content, including games and TV content.
Parents can also block access to the internet and change the online safety and privacy settings for their Xbox accounts.
