Tessanne Chin, Will Champlin and Jacquie Lee give their final performances before Wednesday night's finale.
The most important day in "The Voice" competition just wrapped as thetop three finalists laid their hearts and voices on the stage for America's vote.
Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green rocked out together for one last hoorah with the help of Def Leppard singing "Pour Some Sugar On Me." With their wild sides on full display, the superstars proved why they are at the top of their game.
The night of music was just beginning, though as Tessanne Chin, Will Champlin and Jacquie Lee would sing their blind audition song (to remind America and the coaches why they fell in love with them in the first place), a duet with their coach and finally any personal selection for a last-ditch chance at a Universal Music Group recording contract and "The Voice" title.
Tessanne Chin
She might sing Pink's "Try," but this Team Adam songstress certainly doesn't struggle to bring any song to life. Taking it back to where it began, Chin's full, rich texture got a chance to be heard once again, as she owned the stage, reminding Cee Lo Green and the world why "we all fall for you."
Chin's timeless voice shone again as she sang a duet of "Let It Be" with her coach Levine. The song kicked up a notch when the pair sang a reggae-inspired version of the hook, perfectly bringing it home for the Jamaican beauty.
But she still had an uphill battle to climb, trying to figure out a way to surpass her iTunes-topping performance of "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Her strategy: take on and nail Whitney Houston's classic "I Have Nothing," truly sealing her fate. "I know in my mind and in my heart you are the winner of this show," Levine blurted out after the "world-class" rendition.
Will Champlin
The indie rocker went from Team Adam to Xtina, back to Adam. Coach Levine shared his "profound respect" for the extremely talented musician who managed to reinvent Gavin McGraw's "Not Over You."
His consistent reign continued as he sang "Tiny Dancer" alongside the Sexiest Man Alive, harmonizing his amazing rasp and tone with his coach's falsetto.
The "comeback kid" wasn't done. The sole male finalist knocked it out of the park with his final performance of Bryan Adam's "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," a song perfectly suited for Champlin's voice. While keeping the original melody, he still gave the classic a little Champlin twist and delivered the last line of the song to his wife and baby daughter, sealing the moment with a tender kiss. Swooning.
Jacquie Lee
This 16-year-old doesn't quit. Week after week the Team Christina singer has put a smile on her coach's face, and did it yet again when she sang her blind-audition song, "Back to Black" with the maturity and vocal depth of a pro. "You make me enjoy everything I do in this chair," Aguilera gushed. "This is an awesome beginning."
To hold your voice against one of the greatest of all time is no small feat, but Lee managed to keep up with Aguilera in a jaw-dropping performance of "We Remain." The two powerhouses connected beyond their vocals with their mama/baby bear relationship out in the open with Xtina hugging and affectionately petting her young protégé.
"This is one of the best coach/artist pairings I've seen in all five seasons," Shelton told Lee after she delivered the final, awe-inspiring performance of the night with "And I'm Telling You," dropping to her knees (which now seems her signature move) and clearly making her a "force to be reckoned with."
With such an evenly matched final three, the votes could go either way. The season-five winner will be crowned during Wednesday's finale, which will feature star-studded performances by Lady Gaga, Celine Deon, Ne-Yo and OneRepublic.
